Company owned by humanity

We are living in a world that is highly influenced by large companies whose goals are not always aligned perfectly with the public interest. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were companies that are owned by humanity in the sense that they are managed by democratic decisions where every person in the world has one equally weighted vote.

How could such a voting system, that includes everybody who is interested to participate, work? What software could be used? How to ensure security and make sure that every person has exactly one vote. How to minimize the organizational effort and maximize the efficiency of the voting system? What legal form could the company have? What could be a business model of such a company?
